Adventure & Surf Escape in Sri Lanka

Day 01

Negombo Surf Send-Off

Arrive in Sri Lanka and transfer to Negombo, settling into a boutique beachfront villa. Unwind with a sunset beach walk and enjoy your first taste of Sri Lankan seafood, a relaxed start before the adventure ahead. Overnight in Negombo.

Day 02

Climbing Into the Cultural Triangle

Drive roughly three-and-a-half hours to the Cultural Triangle, checking into a boutique heritage lodge. Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the cooler late-afternoon light for panoramic views over the surrounding jungle canopy, a dramatic first taste of ancient engineering. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 03

Cycling Polonnaruwa's Ancient City

Cycle through the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, stopping for a village lunch by a lake with an ox-cart ride. Between June and September, an evening private elephant safari at Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park adds a wild finale to the day. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 04

Spice Roads to Kandy

Drive roughly three hours to Kandy via a working spice garden, learning about local spices along the way. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, take in an evening cultural dance performance, and stroll along Kandy Lake at sunset. Overnight in Kandy.

Day 05

Rails Through Tea Country

Board the hill-country train from Kandy to Ella in a reserved observation carriage, watching the landscape shift from hill city to misty peaks, waterfalls and endless tea estates. Arrive in Ella and settle into a boutique nature lodge. Overnight in Ella.

Day 06

Sunrise Hike & Iron Bridge

Hike up Little Adam’s Peak at sunrise with a private local guide, then visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge. Spend the afternoon at leisure with a spa treatment or a relaxed walk through nearby tea estates. Overnight in Ella.

Day 07

Ella's Adrenaline Playground

Spend a full adventure day in Ella: chase waterfalls, try zip-lining or ATV riding, hop between cafés, and close the evening with live music. A perfect blend of adrenaline and laid-back charm in one of the hill country’s favourite towns. Overnight in Ella.

Day 08

East Coast Surf Arrival

Travel roughly four hours to Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka’s east coast surf hub. Between May and September, catch an afternoon surf session at Whiskey Point, followed by a relaxed sunset on the beach to unwind after the ride. Overnight in Arugam Bay.

Day 09

Lagoons & Beachside BBQs

Join a lagoon safari to spot elephants and birdlife, then explore hidden beaches along the coastline. In the evening, enjoy a beachside seafood BBQ alongside the lively traveller social scene Arugam Bay is well known for. Overnight in Arugam Bay.

Day 10

Into Yala's Wild Frontier

Enjoy a free morning in Arugam Bay for optional surfing or rest, then transfer roughly three hours south to Yala. Check into a luxury tented camp or safari lodge before an evening jeep safari in search of elephants, crocodiles and exotic birdlife. Overnight in Yala.

Day 11

Tracking Leopards in Yala

Set out on an early-morning private jeep safari through Yala National Park, chasing sightings of leopard, sloth bear and more with your naturalist guide. Later, join a guided jungle walk before winding down with spa treatments and quiet reflection at your eco-lodge. Overnight in Yala.

Day 12

Galle Fort to the South Coast

Break the journey from Yala with a guided walking tour of Galle Fort’s Dutch-colonial ramparts, lighthouse and boutique cafés. Continue to Weligama or Mirissa for a beginner surf lesson and a seafood cooking class to close out the evening. Overnight on the South Coast.

Day 13

Brunch, Boards & Sunsets

Spend the day soaking up South Coast beach culture: café hopping, leisurely brunches and, between November and April, an optional whale watching excursion. Round off the trip with relaxed sunset beach hangs among fellow travellers. Overnight on the South Coast.

Day 14

Final Stretch to Colombo

Transfer to Colombo with time for an optional final spa session or brief city exploration before your departure. A relaxed close to a high-energy fourteen-day journey across three coasts and Sri Lanka’s wild interior. Airport transfer follows for your onward flight.
